BIM Methodology in Structural Design: A Practical Case of Collaboration, Coordination, and Integration

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a methodology focused on the centralization and sharing of project information among all experts involved. The use BIM platforms allows professionals to improve coordination, collaboration, integration along with development disciplines tasks required in complete building project. Currently, construction industry has witnessed growing adoption BIM, mainly caused by constant technologic achievements, contributing improvement capability available software. However, concerning structural design, implementation still presents some difficulties, especially interoperability BIM-based systems. In present study, design case was considered, using Revit as modeling software Robot system. A bidirectional exchange between two systems capacity evaluated. process, main identified remarks concern fundamental aspects sharing, integration, interoperability. Despite limitations found, essentially related interoperability, approach significant advantages project, supported 3D visualization, model overlapping, easy accessibility database, streamlined enhanced collaboration.
